Competency Workshop - Intensive

Essential Goals and Scope
The workshop presents the fundamentals of competency-based assessment and development with special emphasis on project and programs. Based on field studies undertaken in 2006 a new PM Standard has been defined that specifically addresses the needs of large complex projects in petrochemical, oil and gas, energy, transport and construction industries. It presents also a coherent approach to acquiring and enhancing the skills and competencies of the project management staff of both host and performing organizations, including project/program managers, management consultants, management contractors, EPC contractors, design consultants, vendors QA certifiers others involved in conceptualization, planning, design, procurement and construction of capital projects.

The workshop will cover the following:

  • Management of complex engineering projects, the results from case studies
  • The PM Standard for competency in project/program management
  • Assessment and development of project management staff competencies based on the PM Standard
  • Professional ethics and value
  • Competency assessment tools
  • Preparation of a tailored teaming and development plan
  • Peer evaluation and benchmarking of L& D Plans
